Bloomberg—U.S. retailers are suing a Walmart store in Minnesota for $2.5 million after a judge ruled that it must pay back taxes owed to the federal government.
Walmart is the latest company to be hit with a $2 million tax bill since the end of the tax holiday.
The lawsuit was filed by U.S.-based retailer Macy’s in a Minnesota tax case, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.
The lawsuit was one of several filed this week against the nation’s largest retailer.
It also follows a lawsuit filed earlier this month in the same case by the company.
The suit said that Walmart is liable for taxes due to the Internal Revenue Service for taxes paid by its employees and for state and local sales taxes it collected.
The state, the suit said, “has repeatedly refused to pay the taxes.”
