Samsung Electronics has announced it will launch a new laundry deterger in India as the country is a top market for its technology products.
The washing machine maker said it will make the new product in partnership with a private company, and that it is aiming to bring its laundry detergents to markets in the US, China, India and Indonesia by the end of the year.
“This is a huge opportunity for the entire industry, and we are excited to share it with the customers,” Samsung Electronics India president Amitabh Sharma told reporters.
“Laundry is a key part of everyday life, and this is an opportunity for us to create an industry that can reach all the households in the country,” he added.
The company said it would roll out the detergent to 50 million households across the country, starting in September.
The new detergent will be made by Samsung Chemicals, which has a plant in Hyderabad and has been selling its detergent and other products in India since 2008.
